WHAT IS THIS THERAPY?
Muscle pain and tightness that won’t go away usually isn’t a muscle problem, it’s a tissue problem.
Soft tissue therapy works directly on the muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments that surround and support your joints. Over time through injury, overuse, poor posture, or surgery these tissues develop adhesions, scar tissue, and restrictions that limit movement and cause persistent pain. Standard massage doesn’t always reach them. Soft tissue mobilization does.
Our soft tissue therapy in Folsom combines manual techniques and IASTM to break down restrictions and restore movement properly.
MECHANISM
OF ACTION
01
Restriction Mapping
Detailed palpatory assessment locates specific zones of fascial thickening, scar tissue, and adhesion formation within the soft tissue structures.
02
IASTM Protocol
Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization uses precision stainless tools to mechanically break down dysfunctional tissue and stimulate healing.
03
Fascial Integration
Active movement re-education trains the fascial system to maintain newly restored mobility and prevent recurrence of restriction patterns.
More About Soft Tissue Therapy
Who Needs This Therapy?
Soft tissue restrictions affect people across all activity levels and age groups. Here’s who we most commonly help.
- People with chronic muscle tightness that stretching alone never fully resolves
- Athletes dealing with overuse injuries, tendinopathy, or recurring strains
- Anyone with scar tissue from surgery, injury, or trauma limiting their movement
- Desk workers carrying long-term tension in the neck, shoulders, and upper back
- People whose movement feels blocked or restricted without a clear explanation
If tightness, restricted movement, or nagging muscle pain is holding you back, this therapy was built for exactly that.
Signs You May Benefit
Not sure if this therapy is right for you? These four signs are what most of our patients had in common before their first session.
Persistent Muscle Tightness
You stretch regularly, but the tension keeps coming back. That’s usually a sign there’s a deeper tissue restriction that stretching can’t reach.
Movement That Feels Blocked
Something stops you before you reach your full range, not pain exactly, but a resistance that shouldn’t be there.
Recurring Injuries in the Same Area
If the same muscle or tendon keeps getting injured, underlying scar tissue or adhesions are often the reason why.
Pain Disrupting Daily Function
When tightness and restriction start affecting your sleep, work, or ability to stay active, it’s time to treat the tissue properly.
Conditions We Treat
From post-surgical scar tissue to athletic overuse injuries, soft tissue therapy covers more ground than most people expect. Here’s what we treat.

- IT Band Syndrome
- Trigger Points
Tendons & Ligaments
- Tendinopathy & Tendinitis
- Rotator Cuff Restrictions
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Achilles Tendon Tightness
- Hamstring & Hip Flexor Restrictions

Benefits of the Therapy
The benefits go well beyond loosening tight muscles. When restricted tissue is properly released, movement improves across the board, here’s what most of our patients experience.
Adhesion & Scar Tissue Release
Manual and instrument-assisted techniques break down dysfunctional tissue that’s been limiting movement and causing pain.
Improved Range of Motion
Once restrictions are cleared, movement opens up often immediately after the session.
Reduced Muscle Pain
Releasing tension in deeper tissue layers takes pressure off nerves and brings real pain relief.
Faster Injury Recovery
Breaking down scar tissue and restoring healthy tissue function accelerates recovery significantly.
No Downtime
Light movement is encouraged after treatment. Most patients walk out feeling freer than when they came in.
Lasting Results
Soft tissue mobilization creates structural change in the tissue meaning the results actually hold.
How the Treatment Process Works
From your first visit to your final session, here’s exactly what the process looks like.
Step 01 — Initial Assessment
We locate the specific areas of fascial tightness, scar tissue, and restriction mapping exactly where the problem is before we treat it.
Step 02 — Your Treatment Plan
We build a plan around your tissue, your condition, and your goals and walk you through what to expect at each stage.
Step 03 — Mobilization Sessions
Using hands-on manual techniques and precision IASTM tools, we work through the restricted tissue layers. You’ll feel pressure and engagement controlled and purposeful throughout.
Step 04 — Progress Check-Ins
We track your mobility and pain response every session and adjust the approach as your tissue responds.
Step 05 — Getting You to Your Goal
Full movement, pain-free activity, or getting back to sport, we keep that outcome in focus from start to finish.
Why Choose Our Clinic?
A lot of clinics offer soft tissue therapy in Folsom, but here’s what makes the way we do it different.
One-on-One Care, Every Session
You’ll always work directly with a qualified therapist every session is personal, attentive, and hands-on.
Precise, Assessment-Led Treatment
We locate the restriction before we treat it. Nothing is applied generally, every technique targets what your tissue actually needs.
A Combined Approach
Soft tissue mobilization works even better alongside laser therapy, joint mobilization, or rehab exercises. We combine what makes sense for your condition.
Honest About What You Need
If soft tissue therapy isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you and point you toward what is.
Focused on Outcomes
We measure progress every session and stay focused on your goal, not just getting you through a course of treatment.

PATIENT QUESTIONS
FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
What is soft tissue mobilisation?
Soft tissue mobilisation (STM) uses hands-on techniques — including instrument-assisted methods — to assess and treat restrictions in muscle, fascia, tendons, and ligaments. It targets the connective tissue matrix that conventional massage may not reach.
What conditions does soft tissue mobilisation treat?
STM is effective for scar tissue adhesions, tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, IT band syndrome, rotator cuff restrictions, and general movement limitations caused by fascial tightness. It is also used proactively in athletic performance programs.
Is instrument-assisted STM (IASTM) painful?
IASTM can cause mild discomfort as the tool engages restricted tissue. Temporary redness or minor bruising in treated areas is normal and indicates areas of fascial restriction. Discomfort subsides quickly, and most clients feel improved mobility immediately after.
How many sessions will I need?
Mild restrictions often respond in 3–5 sessions. Chronic adhesions or post-surgical scar tissue typically require 8–12 sessions alongside mobility and strengthening work. Your therapist will set measurable targets from the outset.
Can I exercise after soft tissue mobilisation?
Light movement and mobility work is encouraged after STM — it helps reinforce the tissue changes achieved during treatment. High-intensity training is generally best avoided for 24 hours post-session.
